England Hockey is weighing up making a bid for the 2014 men’s and women’s World Cups.
The Daily Telegraph reports that although no formal application has yet been made, UK Sport – one of a number of agencies backing the potential bid – has confirmed that plans are being worked on that would see London submit a bid to host the events by the deadline in early June.
If successful, the 12-nation tournaments would be the first world-level events to be held at the Olympic Park following the London 2012 Games and the first World Cups to be staged simultaneously since Holland did so in 1998.
