Fifa has appointed Getty Images as its authorised photographic agency for the next two years.
Getty will cover Fifa tournaments, including this year’s World Cup in South Africa, with a dedicated team of photographers providing a record of events (to be called the Fifa Collection) with exclusive pitchside and behind-the-scenes access.
“Getty Images is delighted to team up with Fifa for the first time and to capture all the defining images from the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa , as well as their other tournaments,” said Adrian Murrell, senior vice-president of editorial imagery at Getty Images.
“The World Cup is one of the most eagerly anticipated sporting events in the world and has made a lasting impression in our collective memories. Our award-winning photographers’ extensive experience of covering previous World Cups will ensure that the Fifa Collection is the place to turn to for World Cup imagery.”
