Zurich has been announced as the host of the 2014 European Athletics Championships.
The newly refurbished 28,000-seater Letzigrund stadium will stage the event in four years’ time. This year’s championships will take place in Barcelona, while Helsinki will host the 2012 edition.
"Athletics is a hugely popular sport in Switzerland and we can look forward to a fantastic event," said European Athletics president Hansjorg Wirz.
Zurich will be the second Swiss city to hold the event after Bern in 1954.
