New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) and Rugby New Zealand 2011 Ltd chairman Jock Hobbs has stepped down from both positions after being diagnosed with leukaemia.
Mike Eagle had been named as acting NZRU chairman, while Brian Roche will act as chairman of Rugby New Zealand 2011.
Hobbs's future involvement will be discussed at a board meeting later this month, NZRU said.
NZRU chief executive Steve Tew added: "Jock and his family have asked that we respect their privacy at this difficult time."
