Former England women's captain Rachael Heyhoe-Flint has been named one of the first two female directors of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Heyhoe-Flint will represent the women's game, while ex-chief constable of Dorset Jane Stichbury has also joined the board as an independent director.
Heyhoe-Flint led England from 1966 to 1978 and won the World Cup in 1973.
"It's an enormous honour for us to be the first women to be nominated to serve on the board," she said.
"I am very keen to continue my involvement in the administration of the game and to help maintain the very significant progress the women's game has made in recent years.”
ECB chairman Giles Clarke added: "I am delighted that Jane and Rachael have been nominated to serve on our board. Rachael was an outstanding captain of England women and has worked tirelessly on behalf of cricket for many years – particularly for the Lady Taverners.
"Jane was the first woman to be appointed as one of Her Majesty's Inspectors of Constabulary and her knowledge and experience will be invaluable."
