The European Senior Tour will visit Japan for the first time when it co-sanctions the Handa Cup Senior Masters with the Japanese PGA (JPGA) in November.
Leading Senior Tour golfers will compete for a prize fund of about 1m Euros at the tournament, which will be the first to count towards the 2011 Senior Tour Order of Merit.
Andy Stubbs, managing director of the European Tour, said: “We are delighted to co-sanction what I’m sure will be a fantastic event and a great way to start the 2011 Order of Merit. I’m grateful to the JPGA for hosting the event which takes the Senior Tour to a new audience.”
Isao Matsui, chairman of the JPGA, added: “It is tremendous to co-sanction this event alongside the European Senior Tour. We look forward to welcoming a fantastic calibre of Senior Tour players and showcasing the strength in depth in Japanese golf.”
