International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge hopes an African city will bid to host the Olympic Games in the near future.
Rogge said while visiting Kenya that Africa needs to show it wants the Olympics.
"I would hope that one [a bid] will come out as soon as possible,” he added.
Rogge said that South Africa’s campaign to host the 2010 World Cup was an example of how a country should pitch for a major event.
He pointed out that the successful World Cup bid followed an unsuccessful attempt by Cape Town to win the right to host the Olympics in 2004.
