Prime Minister David Cameron has pledged the new Government’s full support for England’s 2018 World Cup bid.
Letters of support from Cameron, new Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and outgoing PM Gordon Brown are included in England’s Bid Book that will be delivered to Fifa president Sepp Blatter in Zurich today (May 14).
In a personal address recorded on video for the launch of England’s bid, Cameron said: “The Fifa World Cup is a cause that unites the nation like no other. Football is at the heart of so many of our communities and there can be no doubt that England would offer a warm and passionate welcome to fans and players in 2018.
“We will do everything in our power to help win the honour of hosting this prestigious event.”
