South Korean conglomerate Doosan has signed up as an official patron of The Open Championship – and becomes the first Korean company to agree a commercial deal with golf’s most famous Major.
Doosan will be one of six patrons alongside the likes of Rolex and Lexus.
"Joining The Open as a patron is an excellent opportunity for Doosan to raise its profile throughout the world, and we believe the outcome will definitely surpass our expectations," said Iain Miller, chief executive of Doosan Power Systems, Doosan's subsidiary power-plant business in Europe and America.
"The Open Championship has a very special place in the world of golf and at a time when Korean golf is more and more prominent in the world, this is a very natural partnership."
