London 2012 chairman Lord Coe has promised a “spectacular” Olympics even if funding is cut.
New culture secretary Jeremy Hunt said last week that the Games would not be protected from budget cuts, leading former Olympics minister Tessa Jowell to warn the new coalition Government to be "very careful" about destabilising the Olympic budget.
But Coe said: "We've made extraordinary progress, we're ahead of schedule, we're on budget.
"The organising committee, which is what I'm responsible for, is raising large sums of money in what has been an extraordinarily difficult climate.
"We have two years to go to the delivery of something spectacular – it will be spectacular."
