LV= is reportedly in line to take over the title sponsorship of Premiership rugby if Guinness ends its deal at the end of this season.
The Times reports that LV=, the UK’s largest friendly society, is “90 per cent” certain of formalising a three-year deal that would extend its current sports portfolio, which includes the Anglo-Welsh Cup and cricket’s County Championship.
Meanwhile, the newspaper claims that John Steele, the UK Sport chief executive and former Northampton director of rugby, is the firm favourite to become the new Rugby Football Union chief executive in succession to Francis Baron, who is retiring in July.
