Rio 2016 communications and marketing director Leonardo Gryner has been promoted to the position of general director.
Gryner has been with Rio 2016 since the beginning of its bid and also worked as communications and marketing director for the Rio 2007 Pan American Games.
Rio 2016 Olympic Games Organizing Committee president Carlos Arthur said: “Leonardo Gryner was with us in all stages of the process, and knows the Rio 2016 project in detail.
“The IOC [International Olympic Committee] Co-ordination Commission evaluation showed that the Rio 2016 Games organisation is on the right track and, in this new position, Leonardo Gryner will be crucial for us to face the challenges of the coming years.”
