SWALEC has signed up as the latest sponsor of the Celtic Manor Wales Open.
One of the leading energy providers in Wales, SWALEC joins the likes of Zurich, Diageo Rolex and BMW in backing the £1.8m European Tour tournament, which takes place on the Twenty Ten Ryder Cup course in the first week of June.
SWALEC is already a substantial supporter of Welsh golf and has signed up to a four-year deal. It is currently in its third year of sponsoring the SWALEC Wales Challenge at The Vale Resort in August and also supports grassroots development through its partnership with Golf Development Wales.
SWALEC’s sponsorship manager Huw Lock said: “We are delighted to be adding the Celtic Manor Wales Open to our sporting portfolio. This is one of the biggest events in Welsh sport and we are all looking forward to watching a fantastic tournament this summer as we look ahead to Celtic Manor staging the Ryder Cup during the autumn.”
Celtic Manor marketing director Gareth Rees Jones added: “We are extremely pleased to be welcoming on board such a strong Welsh brand as SWALEC to our family of sponsors.
“SWALEC has always been a major supporter of Welsh sport and we’re delighted that they have chosen to become a patron sponsor of the Celtic Manor Wales Open in what is a very exciting year for Welsh golf.”
