A split has emerged within the MCC over the ambitious £400m redevelopment of Lord’s, according to a report.

The ‘Vision for Lord’s’ project included plans for building apartments at the Nursery End along with developing an undercroft that would raise £100m.

However, The Times quotes Keith Bradshaw, the MCC secretary, as saying that detailed financial analysis of the scheme has still to be concluded, which would delay a meeting at which members will consider the ‘Vision’ until at least the end of this year.

“We are still looking at different ways of configuring the undercroft at the Nursery End,” he said. “If the numbers do not stack up, we could implement the ‘Vision’ without the residential element, although this would make for a slower roll-up.”

It is understood that Oliver Stocken, the club’s chairman, Justin Dowley, the treasurer, and Blake Gorst, the chairman of the estates committee who was present when the club failed to purchase the disused Nursery End railway tunnels at auction in 1999, are either expressing caution over the scale of the redevelopment or do not wish to include the Nursery End components.
