The Australian MotoGP will be held in the southern state of Victoria until at least 2016, it has been announced.
There had been suggestions that Sydney could poach the event, with the New South Wales Government interested in hosting the Australian MotoGP and Formula 1 Grand Prix.
But the Victorian state Government confirmed it had signed a contract extension – and also had the option to extend the deal until 2026.
"We are delighted to be announcing the contract extension," Australian MotoGP chief executive Drew Ward said.
"The Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix is regarded as one of the best events on the MotoGP calendar and we are very much looking forward to October."
The Formula 1 grand prix will continue to be held in Melbourne until 2015.
