Ukraine's National Olympic Committee has confirmed it will support the country’s bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Ukrainian National Olympic Committee president Sergey Bubka called President Viktor Yanukovych's statement that Ukraine would bid “historic”.
"In the terms of potential and resources, Ukraine is one of the most powerful states in the region,” he said.
“In order to realise this potential, join the society around the Olympic ideals and values around the idea of the healthy lifestyle, [and to] bring the country to the next level, holding the Olympic Games is the best fit.”
