Northern Rock has announced it will cease its 10-year partnership with Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club.
The news comes two years after Northern Rock ended their sponsorship deal with Durham County Cricket Club.
The Bank believes their sponsorship deal with the Falcons “does not offer a strong returning investment and does not represent a strategic fit.”
"We reviewed all our sponsorships and we are not in a position to renew the deal," a spokesman told BBC Sport.
"We've been proud to be associated with the club for the last 10 years and we wish the Falcons the best for the future."
Meanwhile, David Bell, chief executive of the Falcons, believes the split has given the club "the opportunity to really take stock of our inventory and review what we have to offer the incoming sponsor, both on and off the field."
