Kenya’s Women’s Hockey Team have announced a $110,000 deal with Telkom Kenya, the country’s only landline phone supplier.
The package, which will run until the end of the 2010/11 season, will also include insurance cover for the players for the first time in its history.
"We would also like to expose the team to the two crucial international tournaments this year and our sponsorship will include making it possible for them to play in upcoming African Cup of Club Championships scheduled for September in Lusaka and the World Club Championships set for December in India," said Telkom
Kenya head of corporate communications, Angela Ng'ang'a Mumo.
"With many schools playing hockey at the district level the only missing gap is at provincial level where the teams can be developed to feed the national league with talent," Mumo added.
