Al-Jazeera are facing an investigation by the United Arab Emirates government after they were hit by a World Cup TV blackout.
The Ministry of Economy officials want the television company to refund their clients following a number of technical problems during the opening matches of the tournament.
Al Jazeera has exclusive rights to the tournament in the region but was embarrassed during the opening game last Friday when their coverage constantly cut out.
Viewers in the UAE were required to buy special viewing cards for the event but are now hoping to secure some degree of compensation.
Al Jazeera meanwhile believes the failure of their company to bring decent pictures was a deliberate act of sabotage.
“Al Jazeera Sport would like to condemn the actions of those involved in the deliberate attempts to block its signal during its World Cup broadcasts,” Al Jazeera Sport said in a statement published by media in Qatar.
