Five-times Major League Baseball World Series winner Derek Jeter has agreed to become an Ambassador for Beyond Sport.
The New York Yankees legend will help the charity continue its work of promoting and developing the use of sport to create positive social change across the world.
Jeter will also play a role in the Beyond Sport Awards which provides $1 million a year for the best projects on the planet.
Speaking about his new role, Jeter said: “The more we can highlight the important role that sport can play in creating positive social change and show the meaningful benefits it can bring, the more impact we can have on the lives of disadvantaged people all around the world.
“Beyond Sport’s outreach is something that I firmly believe in, and I am proud to be able to play my part in helping to achieve those goals.”
Beyond Sport now has 24 Ambassadors including Tony Blair, Lord Sebastian Coe and multi-Olympic champion Michael Johnson.
