Tata Motors has signed a deal to become the official vehicle supplier of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
The Indian company will provide 1,800 vehicles for the vent including cars, jeeps and trucks for the Queen’s Baton Relay at the Opening Ceremony.
"We have finalised the deal with Tata Motors and this would be partly funded as well as partly sponsored. While we will pump in nearly Rs 10 crore [$2.2 million] for availing their services, the company would pump in a similar amount by way of sponsorship during the games,” said Lalit Bhanot, secretary-general of the organising committee.
The committee was also in talks with rival manufacturer Maruti.
