Adidas has predicted that it will make 1.5bn Euros in sales of balls, shirts and other equipment linked to the World Cup in South Africa this year.
The German sportswear giant said on Monday (June 21) that its football gear sales were up more than 15 per cent compared with 2008, when the European football championship was held. The company reported a 26 per cent jump in sales of football products for the first quarter of 2010.
Adidas added that it has sold more than 6.5 million replica jerseys for teams such as Germany, Mexico, South Africa and Argentina. It supplies kits for 12 teams competing at this year's tournament.
