International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge has welcomed South Africa’s plans to bid for the 2020 Olympic Games.
South Africa president Jacob Zuma said this week that the experience of hosting the football World Cup would help his country launch a bid for the Olympics.
And Rogge reacted by saying: “It’s good news that South Africa is thinking about the future after the World Cup and about the Olympics.
"So we're glad that they're thinking about the Olympic Games. I will definitely take this up with the president when I meet him at the Fifa World Cup final".
Rogge is due to meet Zuma at the final on July 11.
