The New Zealand city of Auckland is weighing up a bid for the 2020 Olympics.
The city’s mayor John Banks told Radio Sport: “Can you imagine, in our lifetime, bringing the Olympic Games to the south-west Pacific? How good would that be?"
Banks revealed that Auckland had considered making a bid for the Commonwealth Games but added: "We couldn't stack up the money, the infrastructure, the investment and the spend, and it was a little bit short on the timeframe. But a 2020 [Olympic] bid I think could be on.”
