The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is set to announce a multi-million-dollar sponsorship deal with Dow Chemical, according to reports.
Sources told the Associated Press that the deal will be confirmed on Friday (July 16) in New York, with IOC president Jacques Rogge and United States Olympic Committee chief executive Scott Blackmun among those expected to attend.
The deal with Dow, details of which were first reported last month, will bring the IOC up to 10 companies in its top-tier sponsorship programme for the 2012 Olympics. The IOC has also been negotiating with Procter & Gamble and BMW as it tries to match or exceed the 11 sponsors it had in the last four-year cycle.
The IOC has already secured close to $900m in sponsorship revenue for the current four-year cycle, but hopes to break the $1bn mark.
