NBA Europe has appointed a new senior director of communications to oversee the growth and development of the brand across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Darrell McLennan-Fordyce will work with teams in London, Paris, Madrid, Milan and Istanbul, as well as across the Middle East and Africa, to build awareness of events such as NBA Europe Live.
McLennan-Fordyce is a former project leader of the Madrid bid to host the 2018 Ryder Cup and consulted on the 2011 Volvo Ocean Race. He has also led major brands such as Ford of Europe in its Champions League sponsorship and previously managed Orange’s sports portfolio across freesports, football, sailing and Formula 1.
McLennan-Fordyce said: “The NBA is a fantastic global sports brand and I’m very excited to be working with a great team based in London and across the region. Not only can we can build on the future with the London Olympics just over the horizon, but with the LA Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves coming to London in October for NBA Europe Live, we have a number of the great platforms to work with that demonstrate what great sport and entertainment the NBA offers.”
