Fifa appoints new director of competitions 28/07/2010 |

Confederation of African Football (CAF) general secretary Mustapha Fahmy has been appointed director of competitions at Fifa following Jim Brown’s decision to step down after the World Cup.
It is the first time someone from outside the Americas or Europe has held the position.
Fahmy has been with the CAF since 1978 and earlier this month served as Fifa’s general co-ordinator for the World Cup Final in South Africa.
Brown is returning to the US for family reasons after seven years in Zurich.
