South African cricket authorities have set up an independent committee to investigate large bonuses paid to staff after the Indian Premier League and International Cricket Council Champions Trophy last season.
Officials from Cricket South Africa (CSA) were paid bonuses of 4.7m rand ($648,900), reports Reuters, with chief executive Gerald Majola getting 1.77m rand and former chief operating officer Don McIntosh 1.45m rand. The rest was split between 38 other CSA employees.
However, CSA's remuneration committee says it did not authorise bonuses.
A review committee under the chairmanship of former Chief Justice Pius Langa will conduct the investigation.
Majola has paid back his bonus until the audit is complete while McIntosh resigned his position last month.
The review committee will begin its probe in September.
