Dario Franchitti, Justin Wilson and Tony Kanaan are to front a new IndyCar drivers' association.
The organisation – similar to Formula 1's Grand Prix Drivers' Association – will share ideas and present a united front on issues including safety and promotion, reports Autosport magazine.
"A lot of us sit and talk, but to get everybody in a room together was the main focus," said Franchitti. "We'll get the opinions of everybody about safety – the things we see at the tracks that others don't. It's been a long time coming."
Indy Racing League president Brian Barnhart welcomed the input: "I've always tried to be accessible to any of the drivers for any issues they raise. Anything that can be done to present it in a more organised fashion, I fully support.
"If we have a unified voice coming to speak to us about any concerns in terms of safety, facilities or anything like that, it is welcome."
