PCCW has signed a deal with Manchester United to become the club’s integrated telecoms partner and official broadcast partner in Hong Kong.
PCCW will have the exclusive broadcasting rights for MUTV, MUTV Online and MU Mobile in Hong Kong under the terms of the three-year deal.
United content will also be available on PCCW’s other quadruple-play platforms of now.com.hk, PCCW mobile and PCCW eye2.
Furthermore, PCCW and United will also jointly develop a promotional microsite (manutd.now.com), in Chinese and English, specifically tailored for local supporters. Through various promotion and subscription reward initiatives, fans will have chances to win signed merchandise and gain access to tickets and hospitality packages at Old Trafford.
Alex Arena, PCCW’s group managing director, said, “We are very proud to cement this relationship with Manchester United, which stands for passion, prestige and the best of football. The Reds have amassed a huge following in Hong Kong and the partnership resonates with our determination to offer the best to our customers.”
Richard Arnold, commercial director of Manchester United, added: “This is an excellent service for fans. Supporters can keep up to speed with our latest news via exclusive interviews and programmes about Manchester United – all by tuning to now TV, or through any one of PCCW’s quad-play platforms.”
