The French Football Federation (FFF) has handed out lengthy bans to several key players after the World Cup fiasco in South Africa.
Striker Nicolas Anelka has been hit with an 18-match international suspension for his half-time row with coach Raymond Domenech. Anelka was sent home from the tournament after the incident, prompting the rest of the squad to go on temporary strike before eventually being eliminated in the first round.
Patrice Evra has been handed a five-match ban, Franck Ribery a three-match suspension and Jeremy Toulalan a one-game ban, while Eric Abidal and the remaining members of the 23-man squad have escaped further punishment, having already missed the first match of Laurent Blanc's reign as the new French coach.
