Sport and leisure operator GLL has announced a new three-year sponsorship deal with UKA (United Kingdom Athletics) to support the Aviva Grand Prix at Crystal Palace.
The annual event is part of the newly established Diamond League, which includes 14 athletics meets worldwide. The 2010 edition took place last weekend.
The deal sees GLL become official bib sponsors at the two-day meeting which attracts a capacity crowd each year along with TV audiences of 2 million in the UK alone.
The agreement, which was brokered by Fast Track, is part of GLL’s long-term commitment to support British athletes and elite sport in the run up to Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. The organisation also runs the GLL Sport Foundation, set up to provide annual support to 800 talented athletes.
Steve Ward, head of marketing and brands at GLL, said: “As London’s leading sport and leisure operator, with a wealth of experience delivering world-class events, GLL is delighted to have the opportunity to support UKA, through our sponsorship of the Aviva London Grand Prix.”
Claire Furlong, UKA’s head of marketing and communications, added: “We welcome GLL on board as a partner of the Aviva London Grand Prix, one of the capital’s most high-profile annual sporting events. Their long-term commitment to the No 1 Olympic and Paralympic sport is reflective of their commitment to the wider sporting community.”
