IndyCar drivers will compete in two races in one day for the first time in 30 years next season at the Texas Motor Speedway.
The Texas Two-Step, named after a famous dance, will feature two races of 275 kilometres, replacing the 550km event staged there in past seasons.
The races will take place on June 11, 2011, as the first IndyCar events after next year’s Indianapolis 500, the signature race of the US open-wheel series.
Each of the two Texas races will reward drivers with half as many points in the drivers’ standings as are available normally.
There were 17 IndyCar double-headers between 1967 and 1981.
