The German Handball Bundesliga (HBL) has signed a partnership deal with Munich 2018 to coincide with the start of its new season.
The HBL is one of the world's most popular handball leagues with eight million fans in Germany, and the federation plans to show its support for Munich's Winter Olympic bid through a variety of promotional and educational campaigns across Germany.
Willy Bogner, chief executive of Munich 2018, said: "Handball in Germany is an excellent sport played by exceptional athletes with well-informed and passionate fans. These are characteristics of Germany as a sports nation and are important pillars of our Olympic bid.
“The Munich 2018 bid committee is pleased to welcome the HBL as a strong partner to promote and further strengthen Munich's bid.”
