Chile could be in line to host the 2015 Copa America after the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) backed its swap plan.
Brazil is due to stage the 2015 tournament, with Chile playing host in 2019.
But Chile is keen to take over the 2015 edition to aid the rebuilding process after a devastating earthquake killed almost 500 people in February.
The two countries are already in negotiations to swap years and CONMEBOL president Nicolas Leoz told The Canadian Press: “We will support whatever they decide.”
