Discover Financial Services has agreed to become the title sponsor of the Orange Bowl college football game until 2014, as well as the 2013 Bowl Championship Series (BCS) National Championship Game.
The annual game at the Sun Life Stadium will be known as the Discover Orange Bowl and the 2013 title game in Miami, which the Orange Bowl will host, will be named the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game.
Discover will become the official credit card of the Orange Bowl and the Bowl Championship Series under the four-year agreement.
FedEx announced in May it was ending its 21-year sponsorship of the Orange Bowl.
ESPN, which will broadcast all of the Bowl Championship Series games starting in 2011, is responsible for lining up title sponsors for the BCS bowls as part of its contract.
Each year, the top 10 college football teams are invited to participate in the championship bowl game series.
There are four bowl games in the series – the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Ariz; the Orange Bowl in South Florida; the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif; and the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. The four cities also take turns hosting the BCS National Championship Game.
ESPN said Allstate Corp had renewed its sponsorship of the Sugar Bowl, and Tostitos, a brand of PepsiCo, had extended its agreement with the Fiesta Bowl.
The sports network added that it is still in discussions with several advertisers for the Rose Bowl. The previous sponsor for that bowl game was Citigroup.
