South Africa's Olympic committee has revealed that Durban is the country's only candidate to host the 2020 Olympics.
The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) said the bidding process was "finalised" after Durban was the only city to submit a bid.
SASCOC had also invited Cape Town, Johannesburg and the south coast city of Port Elizabeth to bid.
The Government will now decide whether to submit a formal bid to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The IOC will invite cities to bid for the 2020 Games after the IOC session next July, which will be hosted by Durban.
In the meantime, SASCOC said that "extensive investigation and feasibility studies" will be done in Durban.
