The Jockey Club has appointed Andrew Crean to the new position of group finance director.
Based at The Jockey Club's head office in London, Crean will be responsible for all aspects of the group’s financial planning, reporting and control; working with its banking partners; and contributing to strategic decision-making. He will report to chief executive Simon Bazalgette.
Crean joins after 10 years with Compass Group, where he was finance and commercial director of its £300m sport, leisure and hospitality division. In that role, Crean worked with The Jockey Club's racecourse arm as part of the £40m catering joint venture, Jockey Club Catering.
Bazalgette said: "We're delighted Andrew is joining us after a very competitive process. He brings a superb track record from three decades of highly relevant experience with the likes of Compass and Granada.
"As the economy recovers, it's imperative we make sound business decisions and position The Jockey Club to capitalise most effectively on the opportunities in the marketplace.
"As group finance director, Andrew will play a pivotal role in helping to empower the group with the right information and contributing his expertise to decision-making for the good of our organisation and British racing as a whole."
