Taiwanese golfer Yani Tseng has rejected a $25m sponsorship deal with a Chinese company because it wanted her to become a Chinese citizen.
The un-named business, which has reportedly been trying to sign Tseng since last year, approached her again last month with a five-year contract that also included the use of private jets and a luxury villa in Beijing.
But the deal came with an extra condition – that she change her nationality to Chinese so that she could represent the country in the 2016 Olympics.
Her father, Tseng Mao-hsin, said: “We cannot change the nationality so we rejected it right away.”
