International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge insists cycling's place in the Olympics is secure despite the doping scandals surrounding the sport.
Rogge told the Associated Press that he welcomed the ongoing US federal probe into cycling and seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong.
He claimed that international cycling federation UCI deserves to stay in the Olympics because it is one of the sports bodies doing the most to combat doping.
Rogge said: "There is no discussion on the place of the UCI in the Olympic Games."
He added that kicking the sport out of the Games would be like "throwing the baby out with the bath water”.
