David Beckham brought his academy to the Marvin Lee Stadium in Trinidad to coach around 200 youngsters on Sunday. His visit as part of the England 2018 delegation was personal promise to the CONCACAF president Jack Warner .
The LA Galaxy star along with bid president David Dein and CEO Andy Anson travelled to the Caribbean country to lobby votes for England being host of the world football championship in eight years.
As president of the CONCACAF federation Warner has three votes, which can be crucial for the 13 votes required for victory. With his visit Beckham demonstrated the importance of Warner’s support for the English bid. If it’s successful, England 2018 promises to build similar establishments as the Trinidad project in each Confederation before 2017. David Beckham’s academy is partner of the campaign.
