Financial boost for Olympics bidding cities 30/09/2010

Two of the cities bidding to host the 2018 Winter Olympics and Paralympics - Annecy and Pyeongchang, announced new sponsorship deals.
Annecy unveiled AREA-Eiffage Group as its latest partner while Pyeongchang revealed that the Hanhwa Group has become a new corporate partner of its bid.
In Korea, officials of Hanhwa Securities, Hanhwa Engineering and Construction and Korean Life Insurance visited the Bid Committee to donate £221,000 and pledge their full support for the PyeongChang candidature.
“PyeongChang’s bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games will not only boost sport around the region but will have a positive impact on the Korean economy and other countries throughout Asia”, said the executive vice-president of The Hanhwa Group Il-Hyung Chang.
He assured that the business community in Korea supports fully the ambition to host 2018 Winter Olympics. Chairman and chief executive of the PyeongChang 2018 Bid Committee Yang Ho Cho revealed that he hopes to make further announcements on new sponsors in due course.
