International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge revealed his confidence that India can bid for the Olympics, despite the chaotic preparation for the Delhi Commonwealth Games.
“There is a difference between Olympics and Commonwealth Games. The Olympics is bigger and more complicated, but I think India has set a good foundation stone for the Olympics bid and a successful Commonwealth Games can help India mount a serious bid for the Olympics, “said Rogge.
India is considering a 2020 bid. The IOC General Assembly will announce the host city for the 2020 Summer Games in 2013.
Rogge, who attended the Opening Ceremony of the Delhi Games, neglected the organizational problems and assured that: “The Games will make India proud. I think everything will be fine. The things are going well and we have very experienced people handling it”.
IOC president revealed his desire to see the world's second most populous country winning more medals at major events.
