The next Ryder Cup in Gleneagles 2014 is supposed to bring record profit according to Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond, who predicted that Scotland will beat the £70m profit Wales expects to make from this year's event.
The 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow will bring more money but it will cost £500m to build the facilities for the Games, and Scotland's Ryder Cup venue is already in place.
“Wales have not finished their economic assessment yet but the belief is there will be a £60m to £70m impact. A large part of it here is private money but they had to make a £40m investment to make it happen. We're very confident about the Commonwealth Games and doing it significantly cheaper than other multi-sports events but £500m is still a huge investment - one worth making but a huge one”, said Salmond.
