Fifa has named Cristina Cano as its new development manager for South America.
Cano will be responsible for monitoring developments for the Brazil 2014 World Cup among other work in the region.
Fifa secretary general Jerome Valcke said in a letter to South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) leaders: "We are confident that Ms. Cano will contribute strongly to development in the respective countries."
The Paraguayan, a lawyer by profession, has close ties with CONMEBOL after working there for a time before becoming Fifa development manager of national associations.
