The South Korean Government has approved plans to build a city around the new Formula 1 circuit in Yeongam.
It will include F1 research and education facilities and accommodation for up to 4,000 households. Construction work will begin in 2011, reports the Korea Herald.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said on Monday (October 18) that it had given the Korea Auto Valley Operation and the South Jeolla Development Corp the go-ahead for their $1.67bn project to transform the 4,288 square-meter area into a motor sports and tourism city by 2021.
