The West Side Tennis Club stadium at Forest Hills, former home of the US Open tennis tournament, will not be sold to a real estate developer following the result of a vote among members of the club.
The vote ended in a 123-123 tie, failing to reach the two-thirds majority required for a deal that would have seen the site used to build luxury condos.
Proposals included keeping the front of the stadium as a facade for the new residential building.
