Vuvuzelas have been banned from the Asian Games, organisers have confirmed.
The instrument, which became notorious during the World Cup in South Africa, will not be allowed in any venues at the 16th Asiad, which begins on Friday (November 12).
Zhang Youquan, deputy director of the civilisation office of the Guangzhou government, named the vuvuzela on a list of banned items.
Vuvuzelas have already been banned by Uefa, European football's governing body, and by several English Premier League clubs, as well as at the Commonwealth Games last month in Delhi.
