Highlights of the forthcoming Ashes series will be shown free-to-air on ITV4 – but not until 2200 GMT every evening.
ITV announced on Wednesday (November 17) that it had agreed terms with Cricket Australia and IMG Media to show the 2010/11 series on its digital channel.
However, the highlights will not be shown until late in the evening when the following day's live action will be about to get under way.
The same channel – which ITV claims is available "to 93 per cent of homes'' – will also show highlights of the Twenty20 and one-day series in January and February.
ITV controller of sport Niall Sloane said: "There is huge demand to see England defend the Ashes and I'm delighted that we have secured highlights, free-to-air for UK viewers.''
Sky Sports holds the UK rights to live coverage of the series.
