Archery GB has signed its first major commercial sponsorship deal.
The agreement with Foresters Friendly Society – which will become the organisation’s official performance partner – will bolster finances ahead of next year's World Cup and World Championship events, and the London 2012 Olympics the following summer.
"I think this reflects how well British archers have done in recent years, and how much our profile has been raised in the media," Naomi Folkard, a team silver medallist at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, told Inside the Games. "This is a good time for British archery."
With more than 1,100 clubs throughout the UK, archery is a rapidly growing sport open to all ages and abilities.
Sara Symington, performance director at Archery GB, added: "We are delighted to be partnering with Foresters Friendly Society – our first major commercial sponsorship.
"With austerity measures biting, financial backing for sport from the private sector will become increasingly important in allowing us to continue the success we have seen from our teams at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
"This additional funding will help our athletes develop, supplement our existing funding and help us reach our full potential for 2012."
